Pathetic and out of place. Matches the rest of the car hehe.

Unfortunately, no. It seems that someone invented the spoiler on top of a spoiler trick before MG.

Damn. Look at all that downforce. Move over Camry, 3rd gen is grounded so hard right there.

While looking up pictures of '97 SHOs on GIS, I came across this:

Kinja'd!!!

you're welcome.

I owned a '97 - most reliable car I've ever owned, and that includes two Toyotas, a Honda, and Mercedes. Yes, the spoiler looked like someone left it there by mistake. Otherwise, a great car. You know not whereof you speak.

Supposedly Ford windtunnel tested the "skateboard" spoiler and it really helps reduce drag. It's actually a real spoiler, as in, if you shove it down, it compresses the suspension rather than bending or just smooshing the trunk lid down.

Pic is of my old '99 SHO. The Gen 3's are definitely controversial in appearance, but I found mine to be comfortable, reliable (once the camshaft issue is sorted), and it handled quite well for a roomy FWD sedan. Not particularly economical, though.

my friend had a 3rd gen sho jellybean. The Yamaha v8 goes like schnell, but I always poked fun at the oversized shifter.

Actually Ive only ever seem one SHO of that generation. Came into my shop a couple years ago DOA. Headgaskets decided they no longer wanted to live. And 1st gear in the trans was a no show. I know its just one car and it doesnt represent what they're all about. So Ill give you that one. But what I do know whereof I speak of is the fwd 230ish hp V8. Meh. I guess it wasnt meant to be fast. Maybe one of those " Oh thats neat" cars.

I was never going to autocross it - just wanted a tourer, and I could not fit into the Mustang convertible 5 speed, the car I really wanted. I've heard lots of tales about engine problems with that V8. The day after I bought it, I put it on Mobil 1 (at about 600 miles). I ran it to 100K as near as makes no difference, and I never had a problem with it. That includes as much 100mph cruising as I could get away with (early in the morning, or late at night, mind you). I drove that car 900 miles at a time; never overheated, never stumbled.

The only thing that ever went wrong with it was the 6 CD changer in the trunk - went through 5 of them. That's hardly Ford's fault - blame JBL. I live in NYC now, but if I had to buy a car I'd sure look at the new SHO.

You must be pretty tall! You know, I didnt know these cars exsisted untill that day.

I do like the new SHO's, Ive driven a couple of them. They are BIG cars when you see them in person. I bet you would fit nicely in one. Personally, I think the 3.5 ecoboost is Fords best motor right now.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with a spoiler on top of a spoiler... It's just... What even happened there?

You have to give them some credit for resisting the urge to make that oval shaped too.

It'd be desecration to remove either spoiler.
